Colorado

March 2nd, 2010 by

Just a heads up on the upcoming trip to Colorado:

Meet at the Frontier counter to get your boarding pass at 9:00am.  Kelly Rosin will be travelling with you.  I will be arriving at 6pm that evening.

If you check any bags, it will be $15.00 each way.  Keep in mind, we are downtown staying right next to convention center.  We do not have any vehicles for travel excursions.  We will have fun within walking distance from hotel.

We are having a team dinner at ESPN Zone Friday evening.  The time is TBA right now.

We are the PM wave.  Pools and seeds have not been released yet.

I have not done a reflection of Las Vegas yet and hope to get that posted before we leave.  I have had some things come up that needed immediate attention.  I was able to get a 6 minute highlight video up on Webfoot18Silver facebook page.  I will be reposting with a couple of different songs….I have been given your LVC them song and will post with that music in the next couple of days.  Check it out…some good stuff from everyone in there.

Thats all for now,

Jason

LVC

February 15th, 2010 by

Quick note on our progress thus far….we learned a bunch first day about consistency.  Today we won our pool in dramatic fashion…we are playing for 89 tomorrow morning.  The stats for the first 2 days are posted under the statistics page….this is a fun team to coach.  They never stop working, they always give max effort….those 2 items have allowed us to overcome adversity and large deficits to beat teams who struggle finishing.  Be proud…parents and players.  I’ll try to get the 3rd set wins from today on facebook by Tuesday.  Early start tomorrow…take care,

We are changing practice this week.  We will have practice on Monday and Friday this week.  Fridays practice will be from 6-8:30pm.  Monday practice will be normal time.  We are cancelling Wednesday practice.  This accomodation helps the most people with finals this weekend.  Remember, school is priority….good luck with your finals.

New Schedule

January 8th, 2010 by

Just in case you all check this before tomorrow morning.  They changed the pool play schedule.  Our schedule:  off, play, play, off, play, ref.  We play in this order: Oregon NW Jrs 18 Power #10, Asics Athena 18 Alpha #7, and Mid Valley 18 Black #23.

Be at the site and geared up ready for a quick meeting and warm-up at 8:20am.  We will not have a comfortable place to camp inside.  We will have to make do with what we get….it is a nice trade off for a few more hours of sleep and only having to ref one match.

Get rest, eat smart.  See you tomorrow morning.

Practice and video update

December 29th, 2009 by

Wednesday practice for our team is cancelled.  I feel confident that we will be ready for Power League Qualifier on the 9th.  We have 2 practices left to fine tune some details: Offensive options in SR, Trans, FB’s & Defensive alignments.

I also added a video clip of the best Men’s blocker.  Watch his body position, hand location, head (eye work)…his body stays tense ready to explode up and over….observe his arm angle each time.

Enjoy the new years holiday.  See you all Monday evening for practice.

New Page

December 24th, 2009 by

I just added a new page: Practice Plans.  Thought you might be intersted.  I already put these in electronic format for me….I’ll see if I can get them posted before practice on a regular basis.  If I cannot get them posted for the players before practice, it still gives the parents an opportunity to see what we are working on.

Let me know what you think.  Merry Christmas,

Jason

Practice 12/28

December 24th, 2009 by

Practice will be from 4-6pm and 7-9pm on Monday 12/28 at the Fairgrounds.  We will determine practice times for Wednesday based on other teams availability.  We have a small number and will see if we can combine to get 10 athletes to run a practice.

I want to thank you for making these practices work for you during your Holiday break.  I sincerely believe it is making a big impact on our readiness for January 9th.  I was extremely impressed with our level of play last night.  I saw you playing our defense comfortably, swing blocking, running a fast offense, serving tough, passing well.

I encourage you all to stay focused for the next 2 weeks.  The tendency will be to look forward to the 9th and forget we still have opportunities to improve with the few practices we have left before our season starts.  We will continue to work on skills and then apply them in game format next week.  The last 2 practices will be team specific and concentrate on transition footwork and offense, serve receive offense and side out efficiency.

I want to introduce one of the phrases that you will hear from me for the rest of the season: better the ball.  This concept not only helps you help the team, but creates a positive team mentality as we seek to attain our collaborative goals.  Find a way to better the ball for your teammates.

Have a great Christmas.  I will see most of you next week.
